Quarry alledgedly located in non-mining zone, ecological and archaeological hotspot.

{reg}Residents in the hamlets of Quenhill and other surrounding area's have expressed their opposition to Cemex's plan to set up a gravel quarry in the area.

Residents have said that the company's cannot set up a quarry in the area since the area hasnÔÇÖt been zoned for mining adding that the area is a ecological hotspot and has archaeological significance reports the Malvern Gazette.

The company has countered that the normal policies, mandating that gravel extraction must be at least 200 meters away from properties, did not apply, because the hamlets do not count as settlements.

The residents dispute this saying that their hamlets are fully functional communities. The residents also claimed that Cemex's operations that will extend into Saturday's will affect their way of life. They also added that mining the sand and gravel in the area will lead to flooding. {reg}
