[reg] Northern Aggregates, Inc.'s has given up on its plans to expand its Harris Quarry. Instead the company plans to implement a scaled down version of the original plan after stiff public opposition. To facilitate the project the company has made several modifications to their plan. Despitre the changes the plans opponents say that they still oppose the new plan. According to an article by the Willitsnews, the company announced that it now plans to request a use permit for the quarry of 30 years instead of the previous "end-of-life" term; with the project footprint reduced to reflect the proposal's smaller scope. The new plan would allow production of up to 150,000 tons of asphalt a year and nighttime operations for up to 100 nights per year.
