C├┤te-dÔÇÖIvoire continues to struggle with illegal cement imports, despite the four new cement plants setup in the region, reports Connection Ivoirienne.

The cement imports continue despite the government's effort to stop them.

Meanwhile, four cement companies have invested tens of billions francs in their production units, operating in C├┤te d'Ivoire providing a total annual installed capacity of 4.2 million tons of cement in 2016.

The cement companies have engaged in expansion projects, which have increased production capacity to meet the market demand.

The beginning of 2015 was marked by strong demand related to the combination of a usual period of high demand and high pressure period for the completion of certain state projects. This demand is accompanied by a substantial increase in the price of cement in the market by dealers while the ex-factory price remained unchanged.
