A Canadian firm takes the weight out of concrete, using innovative mix

Dekko Concrete Decor, a company in Leamington, Ontario, uses lightweight additives and a lower volume of water to make a lighter mix of concrete, according to CBC News.

"I'm taking a lot of weight out of the concrete," said Scott Springer, Dekko's president. "We don't manufacture anywhere but here," he added, "So that's trying to keep a handle on it. We're growing so fast right now. I could hire more but it's based on the facility we have, so as we're expanding we would hire more."

The company makes wall features, fire features and concrete architecture. Springer says his special mix makes it cheaper to ship, easy to install and can be easily moved around.
