The two companies posted positive results despite weak economy

Afrimat and Corobrik thrive, while other building material and industrial mineral companies have struggled to live up the hype, reports SA Commercial Prop News.

ÔÇ£There is a price war in the cement industry. (But) the aggregates market is extremely strong", said Andries van Heerden, CEO of Afrimat. He added that ÔÇ£The nice thing is that our business model is extremely entrepreneurial and constantly on the lookout for opportunities,ÔÇØ while "the economy is flat on its back."

Corobrik has a turnover of R3bn, selling 1-billion brick products a year. Managing Director Dirk Meyer said that "Because the building industry is not growing substantially, it is all about taking market share and product innovation."
