Permission to operate given despite local opposition.

{reg}A temporary asphalt batching plant has received an approval from the Frankston Council in Langwarrin Australia, a report from Frankston Weekly said.

 

According to the report, the Boral facility in the said area was given the necessary permits to operate despite the concerns raised by conservation groups and protesters. Councillors voted 5-3 in favor of the said application. During its full operation, the site would be providing asphalt for the construction of the Peninsula Link freeway that is set to be finished come 2013. The site is expected to have up to six truck movements for every 30 minutes during its operating hours.

 

The facility has received opposition from nearby residents of the Pindara housing estate, the report said. The residents claimed that the operation may negatively effect the area's way of life because of noise pollution and traffic. The operation was also opposed because of the possible removal of vegetation. Meanwhile, conservation group,
