Thermal Stations in the state ordered to stop charging service fee for fly ash.

Madras High Court has provided relief to around 114 manufacturing units in the state who were forced to pay Rs.100 for every tonne of ESP fly ash delivered to them by thermal stations.

According to a report in The Hindu, thermal stations in the state were extorting service charges from brick manufacturing units, flouting a government order that mandated them to provide free supply of 20% fly ash generated in their units.

The government directive issued in 2003 on the recommendation of Union Ministry of Environment and Forests will allow brick manufacturers to replace clay in bricks with fly ash preventing excessive plunder of top soil thereby providing a more environment friendly option.
