On the shipping front, the BDI continues move up supported by market firmness and by the steady increase in oil prices recorded since the beginning of the month.

Following its ECSA grain season-related peak in April, the BDI remains pushed down, in line with the current underlying weak market sentiment, mainly caused by lower demand across vessel segments - especially on both Handymax and Supramax ÔÇô persistent low oil and commodities prices, as well as global tonnage oversupply.
