The Baltic Dry Index rose to 1,766 points on January 19, increasing 26 points or 1.49 percent, compared to the level of January 18, reports PortNews.

The index is compiled by the London-based Baltic Exchange and covers prices for transported cargo such as coal, grain and iron ore, based on a daily survey of agents all over the world.
