The Baltic Dry Index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, increased to 2,558 points on March 9, increasing 206 points versus the level of the previous day, reports HellenicShippingNews.

It was its highest since December 15, driven by a strong dry bulk market amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Operations from Black Sea were rescheduled and they couldnÔÇÖt proceed to load ports near Ukraine and Russia.

The capesize index gained 386 points to 2,282 points.

The panamax index gained 153 points to 3,194 points.
