These exports reached 57 countries and regions, with China remaining the primary buyer, highlighting Cambodia's significant presence in the global rice market. The exported rice varieties included fragrant rice, organic rice, white rice, parboiled rice, and japonica rice. CRF's Secretary-General, Lun Yeng, attributed this export growth to the government's proactive efforts in expanding and promoting new markets for Cambodian rice. With an eye on future prospects, CRF has set an ambitious target of exporting 700,000 tons of milled rice for the entire year of 2023, with a focus on the substantial Chinese market. Global concerns about food security, exacerbated by India's rice export ban, have prompted several nations to seek rice imports. Cambodia has been proactive in addressing these concerns, forging trade deals with countries like Indonesia and successfully exporting rice to the Philippines. Cambodia is now recognized as a vital contributor to both national and global food security, bridging the gap left by some of the world's major rice exporters' production disruptions. Yang Saing Koma, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, emphasized Cambodia's potential to further increase rice production and expand its international market presence. This can be achieved through closer collaboration with commune agriculture officials and the establishment of agricultural contracts with farmer associations.[/reg] Sign in Don't have any account?
