Hamburg, Halifax, and Valencia join forces for port innovation

{reg}The Port of Hamburg's home PORT, the Port of Halifax's The PIER, and the Port of Valencia's Opentop have unveiled an exciting initiative that promises to create a worldwide network of port innovators. This announcement was made during the Port Entrepreneurship International Congress, an event hosted as part of the Valencia Digital Summit and organized by Opentop.

The primary objective of this program is to foster innovation adoption across the global port system by connecting diverse communities of innovation centers, encompassing startups, entrepreneurs, companies, researchers, universities, and investors. This interconnected network will serve as a platform for sharing innovative concepts, project outcomes, experiences, methodologies, and best practices.

Dr. Phanthian Zuesongdham, Head of the Port Process Solution Division of the Hamburg Port Authority, emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange among innovation hubs and the potential for enhancing services to the community through collaborative efforts.

Antonio Torregrosa, CEO of the Valenciaport Foundation, leading Opentop, highlighted the initiative's capacity to leverage innovation hubs globally, offering ports within the network as test spaces, workspaces, and collaborative platforms for technology testing and development. This will benefit not only local startups but also facilitate international collaboration.

Michael Davie, Vice President of Operations and Technology at the Port of Halifax, emphasized that the collaboration between these three hubs will bring an international perspective, fostering a greater understanding of global culture, ideas, and solutions. This exchange of knowledge will be instrumental in addressing complex challenges and expanding capabilities for technology testing and demonstrations.

The alliance of the Ports of Hamburg, Halifax, and Valencia marks a significant step towards global port innovation. The establishment of this network promises to create a hub for sharing and nurturing innovative ideas, ultimately benefiting the entire maritime industry.{reg}
