Haribabu said that the National Waterway IV that runs along the Coromandel Coast connecting Kakinada and Puducherry will be developed by the Inland Waterways Authority of India. The NW-IV is expected to carry 11 million tons of cargo per year, including coal, rice, food grains, cement and fertilizers, among others. The project's cost was estimated at Rs. 1,515 crore, which revised at present prices is likely to cost Rs. 2,400 crore.
