After the scandal nicknamed the ÔÇ£coal scamsÔÇØ took over the Indian industrial sector, the auctions through which the government intends to allot coal blocks and mines have begun, being expected to become the norm in the industry.

The Indian government and the industrial sector both recognized that "coal gate" had taken corruption and fraud to a level hitherto unseen and involved a potential loss of tens of billions of US dollars to the Indian taxpayer.
