The global merger between Lafarge and Holcim is likely to have a double impact in India. As a  result, both the structure of the local market and the merged companies suffered changes.

Ergo, with this merger, the conglomerate becomes the second largest cement maker in the Indian market. However, in order to adhere to the guidelines of Competition Commission of India, an Indian regulator, Lafarge had to sell some of its most profitable production units in the country.
