Its latest move, the acquisition of Jayprakesh AssociatesÔÇÖ cement operation, is also its most significant one when it comes to inorganic growth. Ultratech Cement, part of the Aditya Birla Group, went from being a relatively small player to becoming the leading cement producer in terms of installed capacity in India. Thanks to an aggressive growth strategy, including acquisitions and market expansion, the company managed to increase its production capacity from 15.5 million to 66.2 million tons per year between 2004-05 and 2015-16, a compounded annual growth rate of 14.1 percent.
