Holcim New Zealand announced that it will order a NZD50 million ($27 million) replacement ship for its 32-year-old coastal cement transport vessel MV Westport, probably at some point towards the end of next year.

Mr. Dwi Soetjipto, President Director of Indonesian state-owned cement company PT Semen Gresik, said that he is estimating that the company will invest $300 million in capex in 2009.

The Rene Arcay cement plant in Mariel, Cuba, is working on an effort to reduce energy consumption at the factory.
