Burnpur Cement falls in 3rd quarter

India's Burnpur Cement posted a net profit of net profit of Rs 5,10 lakh for the quarter ended on September 30, 2008, against Rs 37,5 lakh for the quarter ended on Jun 30, 2008. Net sales decreased 60,25 per cent to Rs 3,02 crore in July to September quarter compared with Rs 7,59 crore in April - June quarter.

Burnpur operates in the eastern part of India. Currently the company only produces less than 0,5 million tons per year, but an ambitious expansion program is underway to raise capacity to 5 million tons per year.
