Cemex annouced that they will temporarily idle its plant Brooksville North plant in Florida, USA, by the end of the year. Most employees are expected to be transferred to nearby Brooksville South plant, but some will be laid off. The sever down-turn in the US housing markets , but the company is still planing to move ahead with its $230 million investment in a new cement kiln at the Brookville South plant. The company projects its US cement volume to decline by 18% in 2008, compared to 2007 volumes, reports The Tampa Tribune.
