Italy's Cementir approved preliminary results for 2008; revenues reached 1,09 billion euros compared to a turnover of 1,15 billion at the end of 2007 - a decline of 4,8%.

Irish CRH said on Thursday 94% of the eligible shareholders took up its 2-for-7 rights issue offer and that the remaining balance had been sold. CRH raised 1,28 billion euros that will provide it with cash for acquisition opportunities created by distressed competitors.

Cemex canceled its first-quarter forecast on Thursday due to its debt refinancing which ran in to trouble. Cemex was widely expected to provide its quarterly earnings guidance this week as the company has traditionally done.
