India's Dalmia Cement said on Thursday that its net profits for the December quarter crumbled by more than 75%, on rising energy costs and falling shipments.

Cemex on Thursday posted its first quarterly loss in at least a decade according to Reuters. Sales decreased 23% to $4,5 billion, remaining flat for the full year at $21,7 billion, and Cemex saw a net loss of $707 million for the quarter. Middle-East, Africa and Asia showed resilience.

The biggest cement-maker in Oman (by market value) said its 2008 profit fell to 27,1 million rials ($70 million). Raysut Cement said the 2008 profit declined 10% year-on-year, Bloomberg reported.
