The Egyptian Industrial Development Authority plans to promote coal as an energy source for the cement sector instead of gas, reports Dostor. The authority plans to rehabilitate around 12 cement plants to improve their operational efficiency.

According to the authority, the use of coal as a fuel is likely to release more than five billion cubic meters of gas, which can be utilized in other development projects and gas-based factories.
