The second phase of the plant's upgrade has been underway for six months.

{reg} The upgrade consists in adding of a third clinker production line, following an investment agreement between the Ecuadorian Government and Holcim Ecuador for USD 300 million, according to a company's press release.

The agreement is one of the most important in the private industrial sector of the country in terms of the amount, and was signed within the framework of the Organic Code of Production, Trade and Investments, which aims to promote new and productive investment projects focused on strategic imports substitution and use of environmentally cleaner technology.

The construction is progressing according to the established schedule, and is expected to be concluded during 2015.{/reg}
