Afghanistan signs USD163 million cement plant contract

 

{reg}The Afghan caretaker government has signed a USD163 million contract with Turkish 77 Company for the construction of a cement plant in Jawzjan province, according to atn News. The agreement was formalized in a ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund.

The agreement, valid for 30 years, enables the company to explore, extract, and produce cement while also delivering social services in the region. The cement plant is expected to produce 3,000 tons of cement daily and create approximately 1,200 jobs for local residents

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in cement production. Recently, it has also signed contracts totaling USD 476 million with various companies for similar projects across Parwan, Kandahar, and Herat, aiming to revitalize the country’s cement industry.{reg}
