However, the production of paper will remain on hold until the end of October. Krista Cuddy, Catalyst Crofton Interim Director of Operations & Integration, explained that despite challenges posed by low pulp and paper prices, the company is pleased to resume pulp production. They will continue to assess "the ongoing viability of maintaining Kraft pulp operations at Crofton to ensure it is cost-effective and aligns with our overall business strategies." The mill's owner, Paper Excellence, initiated an indefinite curtailment of paper production in Crofton in December of the previous year. Subsequently, temporary curtailments were announced for July and then extended in August. Earlier this year, Paper Excellence revealed plans to convert a production line to manufacture single-use cutlery, replacing plastic products.
