Smurfit Kappa and WestRock are in talks about merging to form Smurfit WestRock, a global sustainable packaging leader.

The merger would create a new holding company, Smurfit WestRock, based in Ireland and Atlanta, Georgia, with operations in 42 countries. WestRock shareholders would primarily receive shares in the new entity.

This merger combines complementary portfolios, expands reach across Europe and the Americas, and enhances sustainability efforts. It aligns with a customer-focused culture, offers opportunities for 100,000 employees, and improves operational efficiency.
