The law criminalizes monopolistic practices, not monopoly

{reg}According to Mona El Garf, the head of Egypt's competition authority, the monopolistic practices and the exploitation and greed of merchants contributed to cement price increases after the rise generated by fuel prices, reports Elaosboa.

Mona El Garf added that the crime of monopoly does not apply to the product only, and that the law does not criminalize monopoly, but criminalizes monopolistic practices.

ÔÇ£We are responsible for the protection of competition and the prevention of monopoly, in all areasÔÇØ, said Mona El Garf, explaining: ÔÇ£'We are cooperating with the public prosecutor and the judiciary for sentencing a deterrent to offendersÔÇØ.{/reg}
